Some psychologists say that one of the most important social skills is learning how to compromise. It is truly an art to learn how to identify our own needs, what others need then find a mutually satisfying solution. So is there a way to learn this skill more effectively? And if so, how do we help our children, clients and students to compromise with others?

At Innerbloom Psychology, we have drawn from the Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS) model to formulate four simple steps to making deals and finding fair compromises. This tool can be used in therapy, in classroom settings, individually and in groups. We often teach the steps, incorporate it into a lived experience then role play it to explore how to communicate it (both verbally and in our body language!).
